Angelina N. Nortey, PhDClinical Psychologist
Angelina N. Nortey, PhD is a Clinical Supervisor at The MECCA Group, LLC. She obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Africana Studies from (SUNY) Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York in 2010. She earned her doctorate degree in school psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 2015. Her area of research and interests are around social justice issues in school psychology, including racial disparities in school discipline for students of color identified with disabilities. Angelina completed her internship and post-doc at Dallas Independent School District (DISD) in Dallas, Texas. The culmination of her experiences have been in rural and urban settings working with school-age children and adolescents and their families around childhood trauma, identity development and learning issues. Angelina has extensive experience with school-based teacher consultation, psychological services as well as psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations.
In Washington D.C., Angelina has served as a mental consultant working with children 0-3 and been heavily involved in the special education evaluation process for children in grades PK-12. She has managed school-based contracts and supervised teams of school psychologists and psychologists. Angelina has taught classes in Diversity, Assessment and History. Angelina has also supported the health and wellness programming efforts of an independent school. Angelina’s current specialty areas include adolescent and young adult mental health, supervision and mentorship.
