Dr. Rosario H. Paredes Carrion is a clinical psychologist licensed in Washington, DC since 2015. During the past ten years, Dr. Paredes has provided clinical services, including psychotherapy and assessment, to a multilingual and multicultural population in Washington, DC. During this time, Dr. Paredes has concentrated her therapeutic efforts to the provision of interventions to children and families, especially within the school setting. Among the most common therapeutic approaches used have been Child-Centered Play Therapy, Parent-Child Psychotherapy, and Behavioral Interventions. Dr. Paredes has also gained training and expertise in the use of evidence-based interventions to address young children’s socio-emotional development; such as the Incredible Years program, the Unstuck and On Target curriculum, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). In the area of assessment, Dr. Paredes has focused her expertise in completing developmental and comprehensive psychological evaluations, both monolingual and bilingual (English/Spanish).
Dr. Paredes received her original training in Psychology in her home country Peru, where she attended the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2002. Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Paredes attended Loyola University in Maryland and received a Master’s Degree in Psychology in 2006. Dr. Paredes graduated from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University and received a Doctoral Degree in Psychology in 2012. Dr. Paredes’ main areas of interests are related to young children’s social-emotional development, parent-child interactions, bilingual evaluations, and evidence-based interventions within the school setting.
