Currently, Dr. Devon Dee-Mbappe has a joint adjunct faculty position in the Department of Communication Disorders & Sciences at Howard University, where she teaches academic courses related to research, theory, evidence-based practice, and professional issues in speech-language pathology.  Additionally, she provides clinical supervision to graduate students enrolled in practicum courses.  Dr. Dee-Mbappe received her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Howard University.  Also, she holds a certificate of advanced professional development in Assistive Technology Applications – Concentration: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) from California State University, North Ridge.  Furthermore, she received her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology, two Bachelor of Arts degrees, Speech & Hearing Science and Early Childhood Education, all from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo.   While Dr. Dee-Mbappe has had a wide range of experience in prevention, evaluation, and intervention related to a range of communication disorders across the lifespan, she specializes in treating for individuals with critical communication needs who need augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).  Dr. Dee-Mbappe has over 15 years of clinical experience with infants, toddlers, school-age children, adults, and medically fragile populations.  Dr. Dee-Mbappe’s research and clinical interests include the following: school-based issues, evidence-based practice, administration and supervision, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), as well as administration and supervision.  She has presented at the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention, the National Black Association for Speech-Language Hearing (NBASLH) Convention, Clinical AAC (CAAC) Research Conference, and the District of Columbia Speech and Hearing Association (DCSHA) Convention.  Lastly, Dr. Dee-Mbappe serves as a member of many professional organizations related to the speech, language, and hearing profession locally, regionally, and nationally.
