Channel James began her career with The MECCA Group as a One-to-One Behavior Specialist contractor in 2018 before transitioning into the role of Program Manager in 2020.

Channel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Delaware State University and her Master of Social Work degree from The Catholic University of America. Her education and career have always focused on her passion for helping others. Channel has over seven years of experience working with children, families, and individuals as an agent of support and guidance. Her professional career began working with women and children at a domestic violence shelter in Washington DC, leading personal empowerment and parenting groups while providing case management services. She went on to work with adults as a vocational rehabilitation specialist assisting consumers suffering from multiple behavioral health problems (major mental illness, addiction, criminal justice involvement, physical illness, violent victimization, and homelessness). In addition, Channel has worked for several years as a Program Director at a crisis stabilization facility in Arlington VA. During her tenure, she assisted with program development in addition to serving as a leader, educator, and advocate for resident’s rights and safety.

Channel believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and to realize their potential to live fulfilling and happy lives. Channel’s greatest professional ability is to meet each individual’s unique needs by building rapport and an in-depth understanding of their circumstances and problems to be able to assist them in enhancing their quality of life.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, remodeling furniture, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
